Giving, Part 3

In part 2, I mentioned that the Bible never tells us exactly how much to give Post-Pentecost. Rather, we should give whatever we deem a fitting amount. For some people, that might be 1% of their income. For others it might be the traditional 10%. Still others may be able to joyfully give 95% of their income.

I think giving money is a good way to protect ourselves from allowing money to be an idol in our lives. Looking at my own heart and personal experiences, I feel that the people who idolize money the most are the most stingy and least joyful givers. It is easy to hide behind the comfort that money provides.

Just don't tell me that I'm sinning if I give something other than 10%...I'm not a Jew.
