Chapter 9: Knowing God's Love
Even in His role of Judge of rebellious man, He declares "I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked" - Ezekiel 33:11
We cannot keep Satan from tempting us, but if we are to honor God by trusting Him we must not allow such thoughts to lodge in our minds.
The most convincing evidence of God's love in ALL of scripture is His giving His only son to die for our sins. "This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins" - 1 John 4:9-10.
Our acceptance or rejection of Christ has consequences at two completely different ends of the spectrum. Just as no earthly adversity can compare with God's eternal judgement in Hell, "No earthly joy could compare with the eternal joy of our names written in Heaven" - Luke 10:20. ANYTHING THIS SIDE OF HELL IS PURE GRACE. Even if you hate everything about your life, it is pure grace that God allows us to live and enjoy this world while we are still here.
Anytime we are tempted to doubt God's love for us we should go back to the cross. "He who did not spare his own son, but gave him up for us - how will he not also, along with him graciously give us all things?" - Romans 8:32
