"For your created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother's womb...All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be" - Psalm 139:13,16. God created us the way we are - not because of an impersonal biological process. Psalm 139 says that God creates our "inmost being" which is the center of our emotions and of moral sensitivity; He also creates our personalities.
"I would rather be what God chose to make me than the most glorious creature that I could think of; for to have been thought about, born in God;s thought, and then made by God, is the dearest, grandest, and most precious thing in all thinking" - George MacDonald
When the disciples asked Jesus why a certain man was born blind, Jesus replied "This happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life" - John 9:3.
"You will never really enjoy other people, you will never have stable emotions, you will never lead a life of godly contentment, you will never conquer jealousy and love others as you should until you thank God for making you the way he did" - James Hufstetler. We should embrace the skills and occupations that God has given us and called us to. If we are able to improve our status quo or situation in a way that would honor God we should do so. But God has built into his plan for us our lives, the bad decisions that we will make. And he guides us to make the necessary decisions to carry out his plan for us even before we are in Christ.
